Maximizing Land Use
With the price of undeveloped land at a premium, property owners are looking for unique products and construction methods that allow for complete site utilization.
Maximizing land use is an area where products from Block USA shine. From segmental retaining wall units to special permeable interlocking concrete pavers, Block USA products are an ideal way to ensure that owners and developers achieve maximum property utilization.
Segmental Retaining Walls
Segmental Retaining Walls (SRWs) are gravity retaining walls that rely primarily on their mass (weight) for stability. These system consists of concrete masonry units which are placed without the use of mortar (dry stacked), and which rely on a combination of mechanical interlock and mass to prevent overturning and sliding.
The units may also be used in combination with horizontal layers of soil reinforcement which extend into the backfill to increase the effective width and weight of the gravity mass.
Anchorplex™ Backfill
The Anchorplex retaining wall system extends SRWs effectiveness by offering a unique, nonconventional solution to problematic wall construction sites. It is a retaining wall built with Anchor™ products and self-compacting structural backfill specified by Anchor Wall Systems, and backed by engineering support tools developed by Anchor.
When used in combination with blocks of the appropriate shape, the structural backfill attaches itself to the wall facing, effectively extending the depth and increasing the mass of the facing. In addition to reinforcing the block facing, the structural backfill zone also serves as the required drainage zone.
Permeable Interlocking Pavers
Permeable interlocking pavers produced by Block USA are ideal for eliminating the need for stormwater retention ponds thus providing more land for parking and service areas.
